So we are moving to a different venue for the Dinner, Dance and Cabaret. Yes that's right, Dance, something your President requested there be on the evening of November 18th. For various reasons over the last few years, complaints were being received by committee members about various problems with a Hotel that has served us well but has recently taken on an air of complacency for both the Hotel and the Circle. To try to keep costs down, there may not be as broad a choice of menu, if any. Committee members are trying to resolve this. That being said it is felt the cost may still rise slightly although we expect to see a superior service with food arriving promptly and hot. If you would like to attend but would prefer to pay for the evening in instalments rather than finding a chunk of money in one go, your Treasurer will assist you with this. I'll probably do just that as I'll have forked out to attend the Northern Magic Circle President's Dinner, down in Leicester. Their President will be Sam Mallinson so there may be several going from Bradford Magic Circle. Of course any payments made in instalments will be in the strictest confidence. More details will follow as soon as they are available. At the time of writing, I've had no feedback regarding a trip to Blackpool to see the Mystique Show at the Horseshoe Bar. We are aiming to organise the trip to include seeing the Illuminations. The day won't be nearly as long as last year's when we visited The Magic Circle. If there are only a few interested in this trip, we will probably 'buddy up' in cars and share the travel expenses. I hope that there will be many going, in a coach if numbers are sufficient. We may even be able to meet the performers in the show if we go as Bradford Magic Circle. Finally, thank you to all those who took part in any way whatsoever in the Hey Presto Show last month. It was a wonderful evening. Steve and I thoroughly enjoyed performing our act. We always enjoyed rehearsing the Rings routine in particular. One member phoned me the following morning to say he was proud to be a member of a Circle that had five performers on the one show. I would share that sentiment, particularly with regard to Oliver and Darren's performances. Finally, a couple of adjustments have been made to the magical diary in the back of the Billet. As I am beginning to assemble the team for the Questions Time evening, I have asked Ivan if it can be held over until the July meeting. The other adjustment is to our visit to the Leeds Magical Association, to present an evening of magic. They will reciprocate at a later date, possibly something for the January Party Night? Anyway the date in the diary of the March Billet was 11th October. They have asked if we can move it back to the 8th November as they'd forgotten they had something already pencilled in October. I will be looking for a team to go across (maps will be provided where required) and entertain with if possible some close-up magic and some floor magic. Please don't leave to everyone else to take part. When our Circle has such a strong membership of able conjurors, should it always be the same few who have to maintain its reputation. Names as soon as possible, please. |
