Dear Friends, Thank you for the honour of electing me President of the BMC. During the coming year with the help of your committee, we hope to bring you the best that magic has to offer. Apart from the lectures, shows and obvious advantages of BMC membership, I will put friendship and socialising at the top of my list. My contributions to the billet will include experiences of fifty-four years of my magical life. Here is an appetizer. Do any of you know what this is? Where did it come from and how long ago? Answers next month I will be printing some of the memorabilia I have collected over the years. To the older members this will be nostalgic but to the younger ones, you will see how magic has changed. The props were very much different. The audiences were less sophisticated. Television brought a new lease of life to our profession. Names like David Nixon, Al Koran and our beloved Paul Daniels all made the public eager to be deceived. More importantly they were ready to be entertained. Until next month, I am yours opti-mystically |
