Hello Wizards, I recently bought a joke book at a very fair price, £3 for 6,000 jokes and one-liners. So if I get stuck from time to time trying to think of something to write about. No chance of that this month however as I can give you some details of the Easter Parade Convention, again back in Ilkley. As it stands at the moment there will be three Star Lectures. I've not received details of who will be doing the Close-up lecture though I can tell you that Pat Fallon will be presenting his children's lecture, so well received at Eastbourne last year. Wayne Dobson will be presenting his celebrated lecture as well as taking part in the Gala Show. Joining Wayne in the show will be Joe Trancini (celebrated son of Joe Pasquale) as well as our own Steve Gore. Steve will also be performing in the Children's Showtime, earlier in the day along with our good friend Brian Sefton. Closing the Gala Show will be Visage, another act well received, at the Civic Reception at Eastbourne last year. As well as the Star Lectures, there will also be two other Lectures to watch and enjoy. Jim Ward, from Harrogate Society of Magicians will be giving a talk on mentalism and some of its more devious principals. Jim has had several ideas published in Abra and other magical magazines. Hedley Fawcett will be presenting the other Lecture, on general magic. Hedley recently lectured at Leeds Magical Association where he gave a wonderful evening of thought provoking ideas. As well as the Lectures, the Balloon Shareshop will be returning, following its success last year. For those interested in magic from yesteryear, there will be two talks in From the Archives. The AGM is held during the convention so for non-members of Northern Magic Circle, and those who don't attend the AGM, there will be an attraction provided. There will also be a Service of Worship on Easter Sunday. The Junior Showtime will be making its welcome return after its year of absence. Following on from the success it met at Bradford last summer, I've been able to introduce the Questions Time Forum to the Easter Parade. On the panel from Bradford Magic Circle are Darren McDonald and Nicholas Mohammed. If that isn't enough, there will also be three competitions to enjoy. Henry Norris will be representing Bradford Magic Circle in the Close-up Competition, I'll have a jolly old time in the Stage Competition and no doubt many of our junior members will be competing in the Junior Stage Competition. There will be a Farewell Luncheon to take us to the presentation ceremony. Incredibly, there is even time allotted to visit the dealers. You could do worse than attend Easter Parade. A long appetite wetter, but there's still time for a joke. Cliff Richard visited a home for the elderly where he was going to present a sing-along with the old dears. He'd been trying to get them joining in for a good while with little or no success. In desperation, he approached one of the lady residents and asked, "Excuse me, do you know who I am?" The old dear replied, "I don't dear. But if you ask one of the nurses, they'll tell you!" Thanks for reading, |
