Hello Wizards,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great Christmas and that it was everything it was hoped to be. I know ours was everything I thought it would be - expensive, brief, alcoholic… . Just kidding, I hope we had a great time and sure we will but I’m writing this just before Christmas.
I recently watched an evening of Derren Brown in his series Trick of the Mind on E4. Well I taped it as it was on rather late. You may well have seen some of the episodes. I’d seen some of them. One I hadn’t seen until this time around featured a conductor for the BBC orchestra. In the episode, the conductor was asked to merely think of a piece of music and because his hands were secured behind his back he was to signal only with his emotions and eyes the piece as each part would be played. The orchestra were asked to just play their instruments, practising scales or chords and just muse over the sound being created as a whole. It was remarkable to hear the piece being constructed as the sounds merged and became more and more familiar. The all finished playing Beethoven’s Joy to the World – and in D Minor! I found it exhilarating. So much so that I went and looked up the correct spelling of the word exhilarating as pretty cool would not be sufficient.
Anyway, all the best for the New Year.
Thanks for reading and till next time, TA-RAAA!!!
