Secretarial | Many thanks to all those who took part or supported the Roadshow over at Saltaire for the Parkinson Disease Society. It was a shame that so few of the public attended, especially when our members put on such a fine show. I was proud of all our members having a go, as I always am. There should be a write up about the show penned by Chris Poole elsewhere in the Billet. You can read about some of the magic seen down at Eastbourne elsewhere. I mention it here to thank all those who gave us their support in the Shield Competition and to Steve for his solo turn in the Close-up Competition. Whether the style of performance was everyone’s cup of tea or not, we were pleased to compete with the Steve Gore and Co. act that did so well at Easter Parade, earlier this year. When asked if we’d put the act in the Shield Competition, we were happy to rise to such an endorsement and proud to represent both Bradford and Northern Magic Circles. Having the support of many friends made such a daunting competition so much more bearable. I try to remember the words of Kenrick ‘Ice’ McDonald when he lectured last year. He said “If you are in the audience watching a magician perform at a show, the person applauding the loudest should be the magician watching from the audience!” It was so nice to see this sentiment expressed so sincerely at Eastbourne and again at Saltaire. Your next chance to come along and perform or support a Roadshow is 15th January 2005 when we return to St. James the Great Church in Pudsey. I have some people in mind but as always would like to have a volunteer or two. |
