I hope you enjoyed the Dinner and Cabaret last week. I’m writing this before the evening so can only speculate that it will be a fun filled success. Another fun evening kicks off the New Year. The January Party Night includes the New Members show. One of the new members taking part is acting as compere. He’s already made an impact on the Circle, first when he did his audition before the whole audience last year after last year’s December Show. More recently, many will have seen him doing well in the Junior Stage Competition and even more recently performing in the Cabaret last week. If you haven’t guessed, and I’d be surprised if you haven’t, it’s Ross Risdon. Give them all your support please. For those unfamiliar with the Party Night, we all bring along some food and drink, enough for yourself with something sweet and something savoury. It’s all put together as a buffet spread and has proved a successful and fun evening for many years. A fun element from a while back that fell by the wayside and hasn’t quite worked its way back in yet, is where we wrap up a trick in Christmas paper, put it in a box with other tricks and at the end of the evening take home a different trick. Please note if you wish to participate in this bit of fun, a pack of cards does not count as a trick! So let’s make it another fun evening. Onto other things now. A couple of weeks back while chatting over the phone with a friend, he mentioned that the recent Roadshow that took place in Saltaire for the Parkinson’s Disease Society was apparently a bit too long, apparently as he’d not been there, but someone else had and expressed such an opinion. Now while I think I know why this was felt, I disagree that the show itself was too long. However I’m not prepared to go into it further.. I’ll not say who I spoke to and it should be understood I don’t know who he spoke to. I did ask that should he get the chance, he makes it known it has been brought to my attention and that it will be given no further regard except for the comment on this page. I’m not prepared to try improve on a show format or anything else for that matter, if the only feedback received is second hand criticism. Enough said. |
