Editorial

I am sure that all of you who were at the "Hey Presto' Show will agree what an excellent evening it was. Stevie B has reported on the evening's events, and has mentioned all those who were helping backstage in whatever form, from sitting in the audience keeping the hysterical throng under control, to ensuring that the sound and lights were operating as required. I was delighted to hear afterwards that Christian's mum and dad, who go around everywhere with him, said that the backstage staff were better than those at Blackpool. Praise indeed!

However, we shouldn't forget that the evening was only able to be such a success because of the number of tickets we sold. A sell-out! The first one we have had since we moved to Bingley from the Library Theatre in the centre of Bradford several years ago. Our own members sold around 160 tickets, which meant that we sold around 190 tickets through the Bradford Council ticketing offices, including about 80 in the week leading up to the show. These tickets were sold through the publicity we got out - flyers in all the theatres, information offices, public halls & main libraries in the area; press releases to both papers & TV, on 2 separate occasions; several pieces in the T & A, including Lauren's big piece; mentions on the TV; leafleting of cars in the area. Both the selling of tickets to our own members and the publicity overall is a big job. Luckily I was able to do a lot of this, including constant contact with the Arts Centre to see how ticket sales were going and plan our final publicity campaign, Working in the centre of Bradford certainly helped after Phil was whisked off to Dublin - luckily he had produced the final press release before he went.

So let's also remember those who worked hard before the night to enable us to have such a good, and memorable, evening.
