Presidential

It seems ages ago since we last had a Bradford Magic Circle meeting. Well I suppose it is quite a while, seven weeks to be precise. Having our April meeting the last week in March, and our May meeting the third week in May, means that a considerable amount of time has elapsed between meetings.

However, I suppose that these sort of gaps will occur from time to time when we try and book top class lecturers from abroad. We have to try and fit our meetings around the availability of these lecturers.

Those of you who were at the last meeting will, I am sure, been quite happy to come along at other than a normal meeting night, to witness a magician as skilful and entertaining as Jay Sankey. Not only that, but the items he was selling were extremely reasonably priced as well.

Tonight it's the turn of another lecturer from foreign shores, this time America. Whilst I can, on behalf of all members of the BMC, give a big, warm welcome to Kenrick "ICE" McDonald, I have to say that he is a new name to me. However, reading reviews about him, I am sure that we not going to be disappointed by tonight's lecturer.

Away from magic, Pam and I went to Sheffield Arena to see Paul McCartney on his recent tour. When I was young I turned down the chance to go see the Beatles at the Gaumont in Bradford not one of my better decisions! So when the chance came to see Paul McCartney, I was not going to miss it again, albeit sat right at the back of the Arena, he was like a dot. However, for 2 1/2 hours, he was brilliant, performing 22 Beatles and several Wings numbers. Well worth the £45 (and the programmes were £15 as well!).

Best wishes
Keith
