Well firstly I have to say how pleased I am with the response to my ‘rant’ in my editorial last month. Although I am still desperate for new material, people have at last been forthcoming with items for the Billet. Please, please, let it continue. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a huge article, it can be a joke or a story, a memory from the old days or even something you might have come across while browsing on the internet! There is always the letters page too, so if there are any comments, good or bad, about anything you like, please send me a letter. So a big thank you to all those who sent something in to the Billet lately. I’ve also had a good response to the competition this month too, have a look at the Competition Page and have a go yourself!
At this point, may I please make an apology. You might notice that there is no review of the Pavel lecture in this issue of the Billet. This is because I have searched high and low for the notes I took at that meeting and can’t find them anywhere. So rather than give you only a hint of what was a evening packed with new and wonderful magic ideas, I shall endeavour to find the notes and give you the proper thing in the next issue. I hope that’s ok.
A big reminder now, as it’s nearly upon us, that we are holding another BMC BBQ this year. It’s on Sunday 23rd August and will be held at my house in Huddersfield. Please see the box on page 4 for more details. Paul Sunderland is gathering names, so if you know you are coming along please just mention it to him if you see him. That way we can work out how much food to buy.
Our August meeting is a visit to us by the Huddersfield Circle of Magicians who are putting on a show for us. Can I encourage as many of you to be there as possible to give support to them as they generously give their time to entertain us.
Finally just to remind you all that this is a joint July/August issue of the Billet as I shall be away on holiday for the August meeting and I need a jolly break! Have a great summer, see you in September.
