Ok, straight into the Editorial this month with a rant. Despite many repeated requests for articles and contributions to the Billet, nothing has been forthcoming. Let me ask you this, do you want a society magazine? Do you want information on what’s happening in the magic world, ideas for new tricks and effects, competitions and fun stuff? If not, I’m quite happy to give the 20 hours or so of my own time that it takes me to produce the Billet every month back to my wife and kids - I’m sure they’d appreciate it. If you don’t bother, why should I bother? This magazine is for your benefit and the benefit of the Bradford Magic Circle as a whole. You would be the first to complain if the Billet wasn’t there anymore. The magazine cannot continue without contributions from you the members. As it is, if it wasn’t for the generosity of Ian Adair (not even a member of the BMC!) who very kindly gives up his own time to send me articles, and the very few regular contributors such as Stevie B, Peter Wright, Steve Hord, Dennis Calvert and Arun Bonerjee, there would be no content at all. I have mentioned in the past that I am quickly running out of material. There is a wealth of history, knowledge and experience amongst you the members, why not share it with the rest of the us? Please, please, see your way to giving up just a few minutes of your time, just like I do, just like Stevie does and Peter does, to contribute, even if it’s just a few lines or a quick joke or story. Please think about it. The future of the Billet is up to you.
Right, on to more pleasant things. Congratulations to Mark Waddington on his acceptance into the Magic Circle.
A reminder that on August 23rd we are having the 2nd Annual (I hope) BMC BBQ which will be held at my house in Huddersfield. I have some maps giving directions from the M62, please see me if you need one. There is no charge for the BBQ but please bring your own drinks as all the beer in my fridge is mine!
Steve Naylor’s ‘Books for Sale’ list is making it’s last appearance in the Billet this month, so if you want to buy any of the books, please contact Steve.
Finally a quick reminder that the next issue of the Billet will be a joint July & August one as I am away on holiday in August.
