Secretarial

Firstly, thank you to all those who supported the recent Roadshow at Pudsey. This means all the performers, assistants, reporter and those who joined the audience. It was a tremendously well received show and made the local paper, there be a copy of that in the Billet. This of course is the last Billet to be produced by Keith and sincerest thanks must go to Keith and Pam for such a tremendous personal commitment.

Tonight of course is the AGM at we’ll learn as to whether the magazine will be carried on or not. A letter was submitted for inclusion in the AGM and should generate a good discussion. I will try and learn from the points and suggestions raised and thanks are extended to Paul Bestwick for putting his thoughts forward.

Our President and President’s Lady, Colin and Angela Gough have moved house and as it’s not known by me how up to speed the Welfare desk is currently, I’ll mention some items that may have been addressed by Angela already. The first of these is the sad news that Honorary Life Member, Arthur Russell had had to undergo surgery with the amputation of his other foot. I was very saddened to learn of this. Hopefully, Arthur and Jean’s strength of characters will help weather yet another set back. Lisa Shackleton has been suffering from pneumonia and is still off sick from work. Honorary Life Member, Ernest Ainley is apparently getting better from his vertigo and headaches. We also learned that Joan Lount, wife of Cliff Lount passed away in January. While Cliff isn’t a member at present, he is recognised as the last known original member from sixty years back and has many friends at the Circle. This was apparent at Joan’s funeral, which was full to capacity, as there were many members there to pay their respects. I believe Melvyn Shalks has submitted a formal obituary about Joan.

Finally, this being my last Secretarial of the Circle’s year (And ever, if somebody else wants the job!) thanks to all those who have assisted me in whatever way. I have tried to do my best for the Circle and always require help to that end. Thanks.
