In November 1948, one mans dream to start a magic society in Bradford was realised. 60 years on the Bradford Magic Circle is flourishing with over 60 members. I have to say I’m honoured to be part of such a great society. Read all about how the BMC began with Hassan Noor’s story on page 8.
Tonight's meeting continues our 60th Anniversary Celebrations with a lecture by one of the UK’s best known magicians. Geoffrey Durham has been a regular on our TV screens for many years and I’m sure his wealth of experience as a magician and entertainer will benefit us all tonight. I’m really looking forward to it as I saw Geoffrey performing a couple of years ago his one man magic show as well as seeing him lecture at the Blackpool Convention last February. I assure you this will a great evening.
We have had one name put forward for the ‘A Star is Born’ training which is excellent news. There is still a place available if anyone else would like to have a go. If you’re interested, please give your name to Alex Wright. This is a really great opportunity to further your skills and get experience of performing in front of an audience.
I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Mark Waddington onto the BMC committee. It’s always great to get new and fresh ideas, especially from some of our younger members, so we look forward to Mark’s input.
On an Editorial note, please note the changes of some of the meeting dates in the diary. The December meeting will be held on November 28th as the church needs it’s hall throughout all of December. This meeting is our Members Show Night and if you wish to take part you need to give your name to a member of the committee as soon as possible so it can be organised. Also, to give you the benefit of a superb and different lecture by Lee Alex in February next year, it has been necessary to move the AGM to the earlier date of January 30th. Please don’t let that change put you off attending what is a very important meeting in the BMC calendar. We have also had dates confirmed for two Roadshows taking place next year. There is more detail on the Stevie B page on page 7. Please give your names to Stevie if you would like to take part.
There is also an slightly earlier contribution deadline date for the Billet this month as there is only a three week gap between issues. Thanks.
So it’s only left to say, enjoy this wonderful evening and don’t forget the Presidents Dinner next week! See you there!
