Happy New Year to everyone. And in particular, a Happy Magical New Year.

It's this time of the year when we all make resolutions,which for many of us in any case, don't last much longer than a few days, if we are lucky. There are the classic New Year resolutions such as giving up smoking, at least for those of you who do smoke or have smoked. Not having ever been a smoker, that's one resolution which I have never had to make.

However, I do feel that there is one New Year resolution that all magicians could make every year, keep it, and yet still be able to make it again the following year. That is one that goes something along the lines that they will improve their magical skills; support all magical events locally (and nationally wherever possible); and support their local magic society more (in our case the Bradford Magic Circle) by taking part in events that the society is organising, whether it be competitions, shows, dinners, etc.

Which leads me nicely on to the next part of my Presidential this month.

On the 6th March it is our annual Hey Presto Show at the Bingley Arts Centre. I hope that everyone will be coming to see the show. The ticket prices are so cheap that I cannot believe anyone cannot afford one. At £6 for adults and £5 for concessions (that's children and senior citizens), they are a giveaway to see such top class acts as Martyn James and Teny Herbert - not forgetting our own members. I have tickets available for the best seats in the house. If you leave buying the tickets to the last moment, you can expect to sit at the back. Now, whilst I am not saying the back seats are poor, they are definately not as good as the ones at the front. So see me now to get your tickets. And come along to support both our own members who are appearing in the show, and those who will be working quietly behind the scenes to make sure the show runs smoothly. If you have never helped behind the scenes before, but would like to do so this time, please contact Stevie B, Ivan Robinson, or Henry Norris as soon as possible.

Next month is the AGM - note this will be on the second Friday in February not the first Friday. I hope to see everyone there to inaugurate our new President for 2004, Len Medina.
