Here I recall a very recent memory. It concerns the day I got completely “stitched up” by one whom, for the moment will be called “Oh Devious One” The history so far is that my old faithful printer inconsiderately died on me. It was a debilitating experience. I rushed to a local computer fair and purchased a new state of the art machine. After less than a week, my new friend went on strike. Flashing lights were in abundance but there was no positive action. I put a notice on the local freecycle site (this is a worldwide group of people who give away unwanted items to others rather than tip them.) I was donated an old printer to help me out until my problem was cured. I returned my new printer three times with continuous problems. Meanwhile the assisting machine became temperamental. It was then that I spotted an advert. for an all in one machine on Freecycle. After a very short prayer I applied to the donor to be granted this. Sure enough a week later I received an email saying I could have this and would I collect it. I was informed that it worked like magic and I should collect before it disappeared. However no address or phone number was included. I emailed for this info and was sent a mobile number to contact. When I did, I was put onto voice mail and after the message, “This is XXX and XXX. Please leave your message. “ This was spoken in a broad Yorkshire accent and the voice seemed somewhat familiar. For once in my life I was speechless. I remember stuttering “. Is that X X X “ and added, “if it is…or even if it isn’t I will ring you later to arrange collection.” Within minutes I received a call back and this is where I realized I had been the recipient of a “Gotcha”. It was beautiful executed which is exactly what I wanted to do to the perpetrator. …And who was this Oh So Devious One? Well I am sure somebody will provide this info elsewhere in this issue. At least it will make you read through it with a fine toothcomb |
