Further to my previous article, I visited Bradford Community Radio station 106.6FM, and my first impressions were ‘what a nice group of people worked here’. I was shown round the studios, introduced to members of staff and even offered a smoothie drink. At the appropriate time I was taken to the recording studio where I was interviewed for 12 minutes about Bradford Magic Circle and our Hey Presto Show. The presenter was excellent and the purpose to promote the show was achieved.
Following this I was asked if I would join four other people on a show lasting about an hour, expressing our views on articles which had appeared in the Telegraph & Argus over the last seven days. I agreed, and as it was my first time on a talk show like this, I was cautious as to what I said!
We entertained Leeds Magical Association last month, and Ray Roberts has written a report on this. As Ray performed he is too modest to write about himself, so this is my offering. When I spoke to Ray regarding the show, he suggested that as we performed at Leeds only a few months ago, rather than do magical effects he had put together a talk on Horace Golding a magician circa 1900 and what did I think about this. After discussion we decided to go ahead with the talk and I am glad we did. Ray kept everybody enthralled for 45 minutes. A fitting end to the night.
I have recently spoken to Graham Roe, Leeds entertainments officer, and was told that all the feedback he had received was positive and he would like to thank all those who took part, especially at such short notice.
On a final note, I went to the Geoffrey Durham lecture at Manchester magicians Club. If you wanted to see 2½ hours of tricks you would have been disappointed; but if you wanted a wealth of experience on presentation, types of tricks to use, and a question & answer session, you would have been treated to an excellent evening.
