As I won’t be at the meeting this evening, I thought I would just jot down a number of thoughts and comments for everyone to read instead of my saying them on the night.
Firstly I am sorry to be missing Brian Sefton. I am sure you will all enjoy him. However, I am looking forward to coming to next month’s meeting to see everyone demonstrating their new skills in manipulation!
Secondly, as Treasurer, please pay your subs! Ivan will take the money off you tonight or you can send me a cheque made payable to the Bradford Magic Circle to my home address (see the back of the Billet for my address). The subs are shown in the report on the AGM.
Thirdly, don’t forget the Hey Presto Show. Many of our own members have not yet bought tickets. This is the major fund-raiser for the Circle. Without it we would not have the number of lecturers we can now afford, or your subs will rise astronomically. The tickets are only £7. Surely you can come along to this event. The Bradford Magic Circle is one of just a small number of societies who are able to put on such a show each year. Support it or lose it.
Fourthly, just a note to wish best wishes to those members of the Bradford Magic Circle who have been having difficulties health-wise recently. Arthur Russell has been in hospital for cancer tests; Brian Waite seems to be coming round after his lengthy treatments; and Doug Haigh is recovering slowly after his recent operation. If I have missed anyone, then I apologise.
Finally, don’t forget the Dinner and Cabaret at the Bankfield Hotel again on Friday 9th November. This was very popular last year, so get your bookings in to me early.
