I hope those who attend the recent AGM found it interesting. One person who certainly did was Gary Brook, who had done his audition that night and had been invited to stay for the evening. Of course he had no voting rights as he was there as a guest only. His first meeting as a member will be tonight and what a great start to a membership, seeing Brian Sefton present his lecture on manipulation. It was also nice to hear lots of discussion at the meeting from many corners of our circle (Could that be a geometrical paradox?) giving the committee a good deal to deliberate. Those who stayed back for the presentation from several years’ back seemed to really enjoy it. It would make a full evening if a few others could bring down some of the recorded history of Bradford Magic Circle. One concern shared by a few is the slow ticket sales for the Hey Presto Show, have you got yours yet? If not why? The committee would like to know why an enjoyable evening of magic has so little appeal. Maybe you’re just waiting until nearer the time. That’s a good idea if you don’t mind sitting high up in the auditorium, possibly near the spotlight. It is our main fund-raiser and keeps costs as low as they are kept in spite of growing costs elsewhere. Maybe you don’t like the programme arranged for the show. Surely you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The only act on the programme I’ve not seen in one medium or another is Daryl Hackett, the juggler. Steve Gore was the contact for him and has mentioned that he is a better juggler than Steve! For me that’s pretty high praise. So come on, get your tickets and join the rest of us for a fun evening of magic. |
