TAKEAWAY MEDIA Following Peter’s article on Ellisdons, Stevie B received the following from Takeaway Media Dear Stephen, I came across Peter Wright's article on Ellisdons Novelties on your website and wondered whether you might be able to help me. I am working on the BBC programme Balderdash and Piffle which takes a look back at the history of certain words and tries to antedate entries in the Oxford English Dictionary. One of the phrases we are trying to antedate for this series is 'mucky pup' and a viewer wrote in to us saying that Ellisdons used to have a fake dog poo called a 'mucky pup'!! He remembered seeing adverts for it in various boys’ magazines from the 50s and 60s. I wondered whether you might be able to point me in the right direction to find out which comics/magazines I should be looking at? I also wondered whether you might know where to find a catalogue from Ellisdons?
