Hello Wizards,
Did you enjoy the last meeting? I thought the double-barrelled evening was a tremendous success and Keith and Steve should be congratulated. Tonight is of course our show night with a few members taking part and some new faces along the way so please give them all your support.
Early in January on Saturday 13th, we are returning to St. James the Great Church in Pudsey, where we have been presenting an annual show of one sort or another every year for over fifteen years. I would like some volunteers again, as there are several areas that need addressing. These include stage and sound crew, a reporter and of course several performers. It would be great to be inundated with volunteers (there are always some who kindly come straight to me but never enough) to save me having to assemble a cast which takes up a lot of my free time. The show is a family show with if possible, a couple of children’s entertainers and it is runs, including getting in and setting up to leaving from 1.00pm-5.00pm. It is always an enjoyable afternoon and another means to gain some invaluable experience as a conjuror or an assistant.
Tickets for our Hey Presto Show become available from 1st December. Make sure you book early to avoid disappointment. You may be able to get seats but if you’re too late, your group may not be grouped together. Paul Sunderland has drawn up a wonderful colour poster to tantalise people with, you may have seen some around the hotel at the Dinner. By the way, did you enjoy the Dinner? No doubt, Keith has done a report for elsewhere in the Billet. Your feedback is very important so please let the committee have any comments, good or bad. Back to the Hey Presto Show, Ken Mitchell will be distributing posters and flyers around much of Bradford but any help from anyone I’m sure would be appreciated. I’ve made mention of our show in Northern Lights as well as Greg Wilson’s lecture the night before.
Steve Short next year will present another lecture, in our syllabus. His talk is about David Nixon and will include extracts from his shows. David was a gentleman of magic and holds a special place in many magicians’ affections. That is why this meeting will be the Bob Eaton Memorial Lecture.
The committee took on board the comments made at the 2006 AGM and are hoping to give a better balance between lectures and other meetings throughout the year.
Don’t forget to get your thinking caps on for the AGM in February. Remember, if we hear nothing from you, we can only assume we are organising the Circle, as you would like. We would welcome new members to the committee as well as applications for officers. Remember the next President Elect will be in office in our 60th year!
Well I think that’s about it except to wish you all a Happy Christmas and I’ll see you in the New Year.
