It is pleasing to see that so many people came to the dinner. I am sure they will have enjoyed it; although I must admit that I am writing this before the event. However, I do know the effort that has been put in behind the scenes by so many people to make this a success. You have to remember that these people give up their time for nothing to make these events happen and be a success. They are not paid. They rely on people being helpful and not create problems for them, giving them more work to do. Whilst most people do this; providing their menus and paying the amount due by the asked for date, unfortunately there are always one or two who do not. They say that they are coming to the dinner, but then, despite being contacted on numerous occasions, and despite promising to provide menus and pay, do not do so. Why is this? Why do these people make it hard on the people organising the event? Do they think that these organisers have nothing else to do but chase them up? I don’t know, do you? And perhaps if this is you, you can answer it. As this is the December issue, it is time to look at the Christmas season, and particularly for the childrens entertainers amongst us. For most childrens entertainers, this is the busiest time of the year, what with schools, playgroups and works parties (although I find that there are a lot less of these than there used to be) there are always plenty of opportunities to get out those Christmas tricks which are packed away for 11 months of the year. I always think that this is a pity as I have a couple of Christmas effects which I think are really good, so good that I would like to perform them all the time, but in reality, cannot. I have tried to adapt them to another theme, but when you have Santa as the main character in the plot, it becomes very difficult! Funnily enough I have a non-Christmas version of one of the effects, but it is nowhere near as good as the Christmas version and I hardly ever use it. So I would like to wish all the readers a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and look forward to seeing everyone again in the New Year. |
