Following Ivans report on the 'calendar' for 2006, I had thoughts on a Do it yourself evening. We could amalgamate all our skills in to making props. I could demonstrate making spring hinges, die boxes and screen-printing. Others could show us how to rough and smooth cards for making forcing decks and brainwaves. On the latter part, I am going to purchase some bicycle decks at a very reasonable price. These can be on sale to members and used as raffle prizes. If the meeting is practicable, perhaps you could let me know how many decks you may require so that I can get them in advance. If you like the idea, and if you have any skills you can show us, please let me know so I may put this to Ivan for inclusion. If I do not get any feedback, I can assume that this idea is a non-starter. As an appetiser, please see the attached illustration of Micky Hades book, The New Make-up of Magic. It has to be the finest item in my library. To all you DIYers in magic this is a must for you – always providing it is still in print. Who needs expensive lecturers when we can: Do it ourselves |
