A Happy New Year to you all. I hope you all had a good Christmas. The committee have been gathering feedback from those who were at the Dinner to determine where it will be held next year. We have received a lot of good feedback but also some important bad feedback. Personally, while I know they did make a special effort for certain parties, one in particular having a chair with arms found, I was disappointed to learn that there was an alternate course, albeit maybe a limited amount, of fruit salad as a starter. I only found out as I'd opted out of having the starter so the waitress asked if I'd like the fruit salad. It was delicious but left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth as I knew of two people who would very well have been there had there been a choice of starter. It should be pointed out that there was one diner who had requested through the committee that he have an alternative starter as he had a dietary condition. The hotel obviously decided to make a substantial batch. I was also irritated by the fact that the Hotel had somehow managed to fall short on the number of Turkey main courses ordered! As far as I'm concerned, if the Cedar Court Hotel want us back, it will be after they have offered us a substantial reduction on their rooms and presented us with a broader choice of menu. Personally I think we'll be on the move again though I'm doubtful it will be back to the Midland as there is a development going on around there and parking could well be worse than ever. Still, the committee will see what comes along. Have you got your tickets for the Hey Presto Show yet? I would imagine they will go fairly quickly with the line up on the show. You can get tickets through various channels but are best advised to get them direct from Keith as we take stock of the best seats in the house at the onset. We're almost at the AGM, at which the Chain of Office will be passed over to Henry Norris and I'm confident another successful year will begin. |
