First of all, for those who don't get Abra (and some who do I guess, as I'm well behind with my reading) or look on Magic Week, congratulations go to Darren who while not winning the Young Magician of the Year performed well against a strong group of finalists and was awarded runner-up place. Steve Dela won overall with another manipulation act winning the prestigious award. Well done, we know you'll have given it your very best. At a recent committee meeting, discussion was made about the Dinner, Dance and Cabaret and the slow response it has received. It was felt that this may partly be due to people having to hand in the from with their menu choice etc. all in one fell swoop. It was agreed that should you wish, you can instead phone Keith to just reserve your place at the dinner and I'll follow this up finding out your choice of menu at a later date. Things should then get going with a bit more momentum. The visit to Leeds Magical Association on 8th November is coming together nicely. I'd like a couple more close-up performers to balance up the two halves. At the moment going along are Mark Waddington, Ross Risdon, Keith Pickles and our President will be joining us as well. Hope you enjoy tonight's competitions. There should be some interesting developments, which I may have to touch upon next time around. In the meantime, I hope you give all the competitors all the support they richly deserve. After all, while the rest are sitting back thinking in some cases how they could do better, they are up they presenting an evening's entertainment. Stevie B. |
