Hello Wizards, Another amazing day of magic is fast approaching. Every year, there is an assembly of magic loving nutters who converge on a small village for a few hours of catching up with old friends, making new ones and celebrating our eccentric interest. I am of course referring to the Ferrybridge Day of Magic which due to building work now being completed, is again at the Community Centre and not at Knottingley as thought may have been the location. All day refreshments are available in the centre provided by the incredible Mrs. Higgins and her dedicated team. If you prefer something a little more substantial than bacon butties and scones, just across from the centre is a public house that do a Sunday Carvery and a fair price. But what goes on at this prestigious event? Well around the outside of the room there will be a plethora of dealers and table-top sellers all waiting to sell you a bargain or two. There will be a showette to close the day of magic and there will be three lecturettes. Harry Robson, Walt Lees and Alec Powell will present lectures. You be assured that there will be a broad range of effects shown between those three. The most important things are of course, when is it and how much does it cost to get in? It all takes place on Sunday 3rd July from 10.00am till 5.00pm. The entrance fee has caused some controversy due to its 20% mark up but the organisers have assured me it was necessary to keep the event in the A-list of magical events through the year, up there with Blackpool and the Bring Ring conventions. So save up £30... sorry, that's £3.00! and you won't regret the great time you'll have. The Thirteenth Ferrybridge Day of Magic. Thirteenth... unlucky for some? Not those who make the effort to be there. Thanks for reading. See you next time. |
